Erin Novak, JD, MSW
Erin has worked in the non-profit sector for the last 7 years. While attending Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Law, Erin managed the Hope Legal Clinic at Hesed House where she grew the volunteer attorney base and coordinated monthly legal clinics to provide legal services to individuals experiencing homelessness. After graduating in 2014, Erin continued her public interest career at Legal Aid Chicago as an AmeriCorps Attorney where she fought to recover individuals’ SNAP and TANF benefits.
After becoming a certified mediator, Erin worked at the Center for Conflict Resolution where she mediated various community and court cases and trained other professionals on topics such as communication skills, alternative dispute resolution and conflict management.
Fun Facts: Prior to entering UIC’s Jane Addams College of Social Work program, Erin moved to Cuba for a year where she met her now-husband and became fluent in Spanish. When not at work, you’ll find Erin either watching a good Netflix series, feeding the squirrels in her backyard, or planning her next trip to see family in Cuba.
