Lauren Brdecka, MA


As a therapist for NEDFYS Lauren’s (she/her/hers) clinical experience includes work with individuals, groups, adults, and children, and family counseling and case management. The populations she had worked with include individuals experiencing substance misuse and alternative sentencing, the LGBTQIA community, private practice clinical mental health, non-profit healthcare, high-risk psychosis populations, and first-episode psychosis experiences, and non-profit research and innovation of programs and clinical treatment.

Prior to joining NEDFYS, Lauren served individual mental health in privately owned addiction and mental health treatment facilities, gender-specific mental health treatment, non-profit agencies, and community mental health agencies. Lauren is a researcher at the Neuroscience Integration Lab at The Family Institute at Northwestern University.


In her spare time, Lauren loves singing loudly in her car, engaging in long-distance backpacking, playing video games, and practicing yoga.

Fun Fact:

Lauren played collegiate-level golf and sings in a band.
