Mayra Douglas, LSW 

Blinigual Associate Therapist

Program Coordinator

Mayra works at our Addison office where she provides bilingual and bicultural counseling services for individuals and families. Additionally, Mayra co-facilitated a  school-based individual and/or group therapy for adolescents, and serves on the crisis intervention team where she collaborates with local law enforcement. Mayra’s clinical interests include trauma, anxiety, self-injury, depression, life transitions, grief or loss, and racial/cultural identity. 

Before joining the NEDFYS team, Mayra interned with the agency. Mayra also has nine years of experience working in human services and early education teaching, with three years of experience working in private practice as a mental health professional. She was previously a Clinical Psychologist in Mexico, where she focused on clients with mental health disorders and commonly helped clients overcome difficult life situations and adolescents with self-injury. Mayra also contributed to the book  Conductas Adictivas Fenómeno Biopsicosocial (Addictive Behaviors - Biopsychosocial Phenomenon) and was co-author of a chapter on self-inflicting violence and addiction to pain.

Fun Fact: Mayra loves to travel and has been to Canada, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico,  some Mexico and USA states, and some European countries. She enjoys learning, relaxing, and discovering new places.
