Paul Schweikert, LCSW

Site Supervisor

Paul is the site supervisor for a new NEDFYS program supporting after school programs through the Tri-Town YMCA at Villa Park and Lombard Elementary Schools. Paul assists in developing and introducing trama-informed, restorative practices to the daily program routine, as well as trains the Tri-Town YMCA after-school staff.  Additionally, Paul supervises NEDFYS Social Work interns working with students and families at the YMCA sites. Paul will also engage in community outreach and communicate with stakeholders: families, staff, school personnel and community agencies.

Paul worked as a School Social Worker in Villa Park, School District 45, for the past 32 years prior to retiring in May 2022. During this time, he worked closely with NEDFYS and other agencies to bring mental health services into the D45 schools.  As the identified "resource king" among district Social Workers, Paul worked closely with the Tri-Town YMCA, Northern Illinois Food Bank, NAMI and other local agencies. These experiences and relationships developed will assist in launching the NEDFYS Tri-Town collaboration

Prior to his long career as a School Social Worker, Paul worked at Little City Foundation, specializing in working with individuals with developmental disabilities. He was the first facility therapist and taught the agency sex education curriculum.  For 10 years, he had a private therapeutic practice for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Fun Fact: In 2022, Paul backpacked  in the Grand Tetons and Glacier National Park. He hiked 134 miles in 13 days going up and down mountains.
