Forward Focus

 Adult Interpersonal Psychotherapy Group

This group is intended for individuals ages 18 and older who are   struggling with mental health and life’s challenges.

At NEDFYS, we’re committed to

increasing mental health awareness and providing accessible, high-quality counseling and crisis intervention services.

We empower youth, strengthen and uplift families, and build   stronger, more resilient communities—ensuring that everyone has the support they need to thrive.

Our Services

Counseling

NEDFYS offers individual, couples, family, and group mental health counseling services to residents of DuPage County.  Mental health counseling services are conducted by licensed and master-level social workers and counselors. Counseling is available in Spanish.

Police Partnerships

NEDFYS social workers and counselors are a support, not a substitute for police response when it is requested or when community safety requires it. Our partnership with police serves as a model for other communities who want to prevent crime, save lives, rebuild families, and restore hope.

Community Programs

At NEDFYS, we value our ability to connect with the community through training and workshops. Training and workshops are conducted by NEDFYS staff and are tailored to focus on our agency impact, mental health disorders, and community-based violence prevention issues. In addition,  Prevention efforts with local youth.

Juvenile Justice

Our continuum of services supports youth who have encountered law enforcement. Programs stress accountability while teaching skills and providing support. Just 6% of youth in a diversion program were rearrested within 1 year (40% with no intervention).

School Based Programs

NEDFYS partners with local schools to provide school-based individual and/or group therapy for children and adolescents. Services occur during the school day, onsite at the school. Services occur weekly or as indicated. All of our school-based therapy services are supervised by licensed, clinical therapists.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) focuses on providing assistance to youth that experienced emotional and behavioral problems because of traumatic life events. Studies have shown TF-CBT sessions resulted in behavioral improvement in youth when it comes to dealing with anxiety, depression, and social competence.
