Police Social Worker
Kate is the Police Social Worker for the Addison Police Department where she provides crisis intervention, case management, trauma-informed care, and short-term counseling to individuals, families, and groups within the community. Kate collaborates closely with law enforcement and local agencies to ensure holistic support and resources are available to those in need. Her commitment to mental health and community safety aligns with NEDFYS’s mission to provide compassionate and effective care.
Kate has extensive experience working with diverse populations, including individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders, and life transitions. She has provided support to clients of all ages, from children and adolescents to adults, ensuring tailored and empathetic care for each individual’s unique needs. Before joining the NEDFYS team, Kate worked as a Mental Health Therapist in Geneva, Illinois, where she delivered individual therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based modalities. While obtaining her Master's in Social Work from Aurora University, Kate gained valuable experience during her time as a Clinical Counseling Intern at Aurora University’s Wellness Center, where she worked with young adults, providing individual counseling and serving as a crisis on-call counselor. Additionally, her prior role at the Kane County Sheriff's Office as a Police Social Worker Intern allowed her to provide on-the-scene support during crises, manage cases involving domestic violence and mental health crises, and collaborate with deputies during emergency responses
Kate is dedicated to serving the DuPage community and is passionate about helping individuals navigate challenging situations with compassion and care.
Fun Fact: Kate spends her free time volunteering at her local animal shelter.
