Yami is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional with over a decade of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. She is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and integrates strengths-based, client-centered approaches into her therapeutic work.
Yami began her relationship with NEDFYS in 2015 as a clinical intern and joined the team as a staff member in 2019. In her current role as Clinical Services Manager, Yami oversees the day-to-day clinical and operational functions of mental health services, with a particular emphasis on compliance with Medicaid regulations.
Yami has extensive experience in clinical supervision, shelter and crisis services, and group facilitation. She has developed and delivered trainings on topics such as trauma, domestic violence, and emotional wellness. Her clinical lens is deeply rooted in cultural humility, empowerment, and a commitment to creating safe, inclusive spaces for healing.
Fun Fact: Outside of work, Yami enjoys spending time with her husband, two small children, and her dog, Nala. Yami collects Starbucks mugs from new places she visits.
