NEDFYS provides 24/7, customized crisis intervention services to adolescents between the ages of 11 and 17 in the following DuPage County communities:

​NEDFYS Youth Crisis Intervention Services Include

  • Family Reunification

  • Mental Health Assessments and Treatment Recommendations

  • Suicide Screening and Assessment

  • Temporary Shelter Placement

  • Community Resource Referrals

Under the Minor Requiring Authoritative Intervention (MRAI) statute (705 ILCS 405/3-3), police respond to juvenile runaways and minors who are beyond the control of their parent/guardian and may constitute a substantial or immediate danger to the minor’s physical safety.  Under this statute, police may take a minor into limited custody for up to six hours.  During this time, the statute mandates that the youth be provided with crisis intervention services.

 

To activate youth crisis intervention services, police can access the Comprehensive Community-Based Youth Services (CCBYS) program, a statewide 24/7 crisis intervention system for youth ages 11-17.  NEDFYS is one of three CCBYS providers in DuPage County.
