Hunter Soumar, MA, LPC
Police Social Worker

Hunter is the Police Social Worker for the Villa Park Police Department. Hunter provides crisis intervention, case management, crime victim services, short-term counseling, referrals, and support to individuals, families, and groups within the community. Hunter serves on the crisis intervention team, collaborating with law enforcement officers to support and assist with mental health-related calls and other crises.


Before joining NEDFYS, Hunter worked at BRAVE Police and Public Safety Wellness Center. Hunter worked with law enforcement and other first responders, promoting mental health wellness within the population.  Hunter provided individual therapy, organized and led group therapy sessions,
presented peer support training programs for law enforcement officers and
conducted state-mandated annual wellness checks for police departments in
the state of Illinois. Hunter hopes to use her experience to better the wellbeing
of community members as well as law enforcement officers.

Fun Fact: Hunter was a cheerleader in college! She cheered for the​ University of Dayton Flyers basketball and football teams.
