Vanesa Rangel, MA, LPC
Vanesa Rangel, a licensed professional counselor, joined NEDFYS in March 2018. She provides individual and family counseling in English and Spanish. Vanesa attended the University of Illinois in Chicago and received a dual Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology and Criminal Law and Criminology. She then went on to receive a Master of Arts in Forensic Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Prior to working for NEDFYS, Vanesa worked with Illinois Court Services and Juvenile Justice Departments focusing on case management of juvenile and adult populations while reducing risk and allocating community-based treatment resources. She also worked in rendering mental health advocacy for incarcerated youth and adults as well as facilitating counseling for at-risk and detained populations. Vanesa has about 5 years of experience working in the field of Mental Health as well as more than 8 years working in the field of Criminal Justice and Court-services Case Management. She has additional experience in advocating for minority populations, being a Mental Health Advocate for Latino/Hispanic populations and practicing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
