Vanesa Rangel

Bilingual Therapist

Vanesa joined NEDFYS in March 2018. She provides bilingual/bicultural (English-Spanish) individual counseling utilizing cognitive-based, solution-focused, and behavioral-informed therapy. As deemed appropriate, Vanesa also applies animal-assisted psychotherapy practices, which incorporate the human–animal bond as part of the treatment process to facilitate therapy. 


Vanesa has over 8 years of experience working in the field of Community Mental Health, as well as more than 10 years working in the field of Criminal Justice and Case Management, focusing on overall positive behavioral change. Previous work history includes working within multiple roles across Illinois Court Services; Juvenile Justice Departments; and Public Health focusing on case management of juvenile and adult populations while reducing risk and allocating community-based treatment resources. 

Fun fact: She loves nature and animals, especially exploring nature trails and traveling with her German Shepherds!
